Who is this course for?
Healthcare staff who want to understand and work with AI (clinicians, nurses, allied health, informatics, IT, data and privacy teams, and leaders), and universities, colleges and organizations that want a structured, assessable programme for groups.
Do I need any prerequisites?
No. There are no prerequisites. You do not need a coding background: Python is taught from the very beginning in Part II, and the non-coding lessons explain every idea in plain English.
How long is the course?
105 lessons across 20 chapters and 6 parts. Each lesson takes 5 to 8 minutes, for about 11 h 05 min of video in total, plus quizzes and the final exam.
How will I access the course?
The course will be delivered online, in your web browser. Enrolment is not open yet. Join the waitlist and we will email you when it opens, along with the access details.
How much does it cost?
Pricing has not been announced yet. People on the waitlist will hear first. Organizations can ask about group and institutional licences.
How do the quizzes and final exam work?
Every lesson has a 3 to 5 question quiz and every chapter has a chapter quiz. Both pass at 70% with unlimited retries. The final exam has 50 questions drawn at random from the full test bank, a 90-minute limit and a 70% pass mark. If you do not pass, you can retake it after 24 hours with a fresh set of questions. What do I need to earn the certificate?
Watch every lesson, pass every lesson quiz and chapter quiz, and pass the final exam. Each certificate has a unique verification code. The certificate recognizes completion of this course; it is not a professional licence or accredited academic credit.
Does the course use real patient data?
No. Every example and demo uses fictional data. The course never asks you to use real patient information, and you should never enter any into the exercises.
Do I need to pay for AI services or API keys?
No. The hands-on demos run offline with fictional data. There are no live services, no API keys and no extra costs.
Is the course specific to Canada?
It has a Canadian focus. Privacy and governance lessons emphasize PHIPA, PIPEDA and Canadian practice, with brief comparisons to US rules such as HIPAA. The engineering ideas apply anywhere.
Is there a book?
Yes. The course is based on Engineering AI for Healthcare (Second Edition, 2026) by Dr. Mondana Ebrahimi and Joy Ardanaz, and follows it chapter by chapter.
Are there captions?
Yes. Lessons include English captions.
